My Hollywood Romance is here!

Happy birthday to Fake & Careless. Fake & Careless is my Hollywood Romance about a serious actor and a silly interviewer. While it may seem like this project is coming out of nowhere, I’ve been planning this book since the earliest red carpet interviews of two specific celebrities. If you know, you know.

I spent all of 2024 writing my romantasy series. While many people have dubbed the series cozy, as the writer, this series is about women raging, unhealthy families, and toxic societies. After that series, I started working on a murder mystery.

Needless to say, Fake & Careless was a fun break from like…death, and drama. But it was more than that—and it still has a good bit of angst, I’ll admit. Through writing this book, I acknowledged myself for what I am: a mood writer.

You know how some people read a bunch of genres, depending on their mood? I’m the same with my writing. And I have no plans on making a pen name, so you should get used to me being a mess. It’s charming, or so I’ve heard.

(Fun fact: I was going to try sprinkling some paranormal things into this book to attempt to stick with a genre, but my spouse said, and I quote: “You’re doing too much.” They were probably right. But! Imagine Cass as a cutesy elf, or something.)

This book is a break for me, but there are still important themes: grief, loss, and feeling worthy of love. It delves into feminism as well, and with the main villain being an evil guy with a podcast, it still speaks of our current climate.

Sabrina Carpenter’s music has been on repeat while writing this book and it absolutely helped inspire some vibes. If you’re looking for a soundtrack to play as you read, I highly recommend putting her latest album on in the background.

Bonus: As a fun game, figure out which scene I wrote while listening to Don’t Smile.

I went into this book thinking it would be no spice. Plot twist, it’s arguably the most spice-heavy book I wrote. Writing spice without magic was certainly interesting, but it gave me a lot of room to play with BDSM themes. I had fun with that.

Honestly, I had fun with this entire book. If you’re reading it, thinking about reading it, or accidentally found your way here: hey. I love you. Thanks for being here.

Fake & Careless is out everywhere books can be found. Give it a read!
